The Awakening is not a sunshine and rainbows insta love. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. It’s a dystopian world where two cities are at odds. They’re night and day–one is Narubia, the horrible abusively religious city our FMC is trying to escape and the other is Sylvonia, what she deems to be her safe haven. Its a slow burn, age gap, superior x subordinate forbidden type of relationship.
